Mikimoto Palace at Ginza in Tokyo is really amazing. I've seen exquisite collections of pearls, jewelleries and a temporary exhibition.
There was pictures, drawings and books on the products. Pearls are from Reinnasance an emblem of might and majesty and as Jackie Kennedy used to say " pearls are always appropriate":
The 1st store specialized in pearls was opened in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1899. Pearls is simply a fragment of shell, fishbone or sand that floats into the shell of pearl oyster. To protect itself from this irritant, the oyster secretes thousands of layers of nacre, forming a pearl. In 1893, after years of painstaking efforts, Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in duplicating this natural process by implanting a nucleus (core). The method he developed is still used by Mikimoto today. Each pearl is as individual to establish quality grading standards. There are different types of pearls, including black and shite South Sear pearls.
Mikimoto is a distinctive symbol of pearls' style and high jewelry.
